Franchise FAQ
We’re glad you’re here. Crestview Roofing has been part of the Relay Home Co. family since 2000, and we’re looking for owners who want to run a real roofing business with real systems behind them. Here is what people ask us before they take the next step.
Common Questions
Do I need roofing experience to open a Crestview Roofing location?
No. Most of our franchise owners come from sales, operations, or general business backgrounds, not from the roof itself. We teach you the trade terms and how to spot the problems; you hire the crews who know how to fix them. What you do need is a willingness to climb a ladder at least once so you understand what your teams are dealing with, and the discipline to run a business where every customer gets The Relay Visibility Guarantee.
What is the total investment range to open a Crestview Roofing franchise?
The total initial investment typically falls between $150,000 and $350,000, depending on your market size, whether you start with a small warehouse or lease space, and your local vehicle and equipment needs. That range covers your franchise fee, initial marketing, vehicles wrapped in the Crestview brand, tools, and working capital to carry you through your first few months of jobs. We give you the exact breakdown in our Franchise Disclosure Document after we have talked and determined there is a real fit.
Is financing available for the startup costs?
Yes. We have relationships with third-party lenders who understand the Relay Home Co. model and have financed our owners before. Some candidates use SBA-backed loans, others bring a mix of personal capital and outside financing. We do not finance you directly, but we will introduce you to the people who can walk you through the options once you are far enough along in our process.
How large is my territory, and is it exclusive?
Your territory is exclusive and protected. We draw it based on population density, housing stock age, and storm frequency, not just county lines. A typical Crestview territory covers 300,000 to 500,000 in population, which is enough roofline to build a multi-million-dollar business without bumping into another Crestview owner. We put the boundaries in writing before you sign anything.
How long is the training program?
Your initial training runs four weeks. Two weeks are at our headquarters working through The Relay Standard: how to price a job in writing before any work starts, how to deliver a live trackable arrival time, how to shoot and send before-and-after photos, and how to text a digital invoice a customer can pay from their phone. The other two weeks are in the field with an operating Crestview location, riding along on estimates, watching how the 365-Day Done Right Promise gets explained to homeowners, and sitting in on calls answered by a live person, 24/7. You will also learn the difference between a three-tab and an architectural shingle, and why we specify manufacturer-backed materials from GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral.
What ongoing fees or royalties will I pay?
You pay a continuing royalty based on a percentage of your gross revenue, plus a contribution to our national marketing fund that builds the Crestview and Relay Home Co. brands in your market. The exact percentages are in our Franchise Disclosure Document. In return, you get the operating systems, the vendor relationships with those seven shingle manufacturers, the pricing tools, the photo documentation platform, and the call center that answers your phones live around the clock so you never miss a lead while you are on a roof.
How long does it take to open my location?
Most owners open for business between four and six months from the day they sign their franchise agreement. That includes finding and leasing your space, wrapping your vehicles, hiring your first crew, completing training, and launching your local marketing. If you already have a relevant business you are converting, it can move faster. We stay in weekly contact during that window and give you a checklist so nothing falls through the cracks.
What kind of support do I get after I open?
You get a dedicated business coach who has run or worked closely with a roofing operation, not just someone reading from a script. They help you read your numbers, adjust your marketing spend, and troubleshoot when a job goes sideways. You also get our technology platform: the pricing tool that produces written estimates, the scheduling system that generates live arrival times, the photo app, and the text-to-pay invoice system. Our group purchasing power with GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral means your material costs stay competitive. And our call center, staffed by live people 24/7, fields your incoming calls so you are not losing jobs to voicemail.
What does the ideal Crestview Roofing candidate look like?
Someone who is tired of invisible home service, tired of four-hour windows and price changes at the door, and wants to build something where the customer actually knows what is happening. You do not need to have run a roofing company. You do need to be comfortable with numbers, willing to hold your crews to a standard, and genuinely okay with the idea that a homeowner can track your technician to their driveway. Our best owners are former sales managers, operations people, or entrepreneurs who tried the unbranded route and got tired of inventing every system from scratch.
What is my next step if I want to learn more?
Call us at (325) 246-5075. A real person will answer, even if it is Sunday night. We will ask you a few questions about your background and your market, send you our preliminary information, and schedule a call with our franchise development team. There is no fee to start the conversation, and we do not pressure. We are looking for the right fit, not the fastest signature.
Still Have Questions?
We are happy to talk through whatever is on your mind. Call (325) 246-5075 any time, day or night, and a live person will pick up. Or fill out the form below and we will call you within one business day. Either way, you will get a straight answer and a written next step, no runaround.
